ACYHA Bantam C

Regular Season 2009

Very active forwards

In this sequence, Ben, Troy and Jordan are not bunched up and do a good job of working together to make something happen. Ben comes back to help the D breakout (Corey needs the help against big #25). You see Jordan come across to support Troy in the zone, and then Troy comes back to Jordan's side to get the puck out of our zone. Coming down the ice, Troy headmans the puck to Jordan who dumps it down low. With Ben's help on the forecheck, they generate another scoring chance vs. St. Louis Park. Troy and Jordan do a great job of switching off so that we don't get caught with all three forwards deep in the offensive zone.

Defense cover for each other

Here Austin pinches, but Carter backs him up. The key is Carter's hustle and keeping the player to the outside so he doesn't get a scoring chance on Ryan.

Defense step up off the face-off

This is a nice shot of Austin stepping up on defense and taking the puck in for a shot on net. Game vs. SLP at Breck back on 12.28.09.

Good defensive zone coverage Patrick, Matthew, and CJ

This is from the game at Breck vs. St. Louis Park Purple on 12/28/2009. Here CJ and Matthew both cover their respective point men in the defensive zone. Austin is covering the man in front and Carter is battling in the corner. Patrick comes out to help out down low while Austin gets slashed and looses his stick (penalty on SLP).

Good penalty killing example

Here Ben, Matthew, Corey, Brandon play the box well against St. Louis Park at Breck, 12.28.09. Matthew does a great job hustling to contest shots at the point. Notice, he doesn't over-commit and end up in the neutral zone. Brandon is doing a good job tying up the man in front of the net. Corey and Ben do a nice job staying in position and using their sticks to keep the play and the puck to the outside.

Getting the puck out of our zone

Another good penalty kill. First, Brandon gets the puck out of the zone, and then CJ gets out of the box and gets the puck down to their end with a dump and chase play. I have been stressing the importance of the two blue lines: 1) getting the puck out of our zone, and 2) getting the puck deep into the offensive zone.

Powerplay goal from Taylor, Corey assist.

Taylor gets the face-off win at neutral ice while we are 4 on 3 vs. St. Louis Park. Corey follows him into the zone and the play bounces off his foot for a well-deserved assist. Connor is in position in front of the net in case of a rebound and Brandon mans the point.

It takes everyone working together

I like how this play develops from our end. It starts with Carter getting the puck to Matthew (pass off the board), Matthew makes a nice pass to Patrick, and then Patrick gets the puck in deep. CJ helps out on the forecheck, and once we regain possession of the puck in the offensive zone, a scoring chance is the result.
