ACYHA VOLUNTEER PROGRAM OVERVIEW

ACYHA depends on its volunteers to keep our organization running smoothly. The goal of the Volunteer policy is to distribute the workload amongst all the ACYHA families and is not intended as a fundraiser.

ACYHA Volunteer "DIBS" Hour Requirements

These are the minimum amount of hours families must work.  
ACYHA Volunteer DIBS hours are generally available between August through March.  Do not wait until the end of the season to complete your hours! Families are STRONGLY encouraged to complete at least half of their total hour requirements by January 1st.

ACYHA Special Events Hours Requirement Information

Returning Families must work a minimum of seven (7) Special Events hours. Special Events are tournament related ice-level positions (e.g. timekeeper, scorekeeper, and penalty box) for the following tournaments.

  • Elite League tournaments Oct 27-29 and Nov 3-5, 2023
  • New Hope Classic Tournament Dec 1-3, 2023 
  • HS Girls Holiday Tournament at New Hope Dec 28-30, 2023 (concessions only)
  • District 3 Bantam AA and PeeWee B1 Tournaments Feb 17-25
  • MN Region Bantam B1 Tournament Mar 1-3
  • District 3 U10B1 Tournament Mar 4-10

NOTE: There will be no DIBS shifts for the Knockdown at New Hope tournament in January or New Hope Invitational in February.  These will be covered by the High School Booster Clubs.

Returning families may work more than 7 Special Events hours to count toward their Total Hours.  However, the excess shifts cannot be in the Penalty Box.

Volunteer Deposit

The volunteer deposit amount is $500 ($100 for First Year Skater Families) and will be handled with registration. 

The Volunteer Deposit will be secured electronically by setting up a Volunteer Payment plan.  You will be charged $0.01 at Registration with a payment of $499.99 ($99.99 for First Year Skater families) set for April 1, 2024 to be automatically charged on that date IF your required Volunteer Hour Requirements are not met.

It is your responsibility to track your family's hours.  You may check your family progress via the DIBS system any time throughout the season.  You will be reminded near the end of the season if you have not met your volunteer hour commitment.  

We do not prorate your deposit based on the hours you've worked.

 

VOLUNTEER BUY-OUT

If your family chooses NOT to work volunteer hours this season, please choose the BUYOUT option for $500 ($100 - First Year Skater Family) during registration.

Cancellation Policy

Yes, you may cancel a DIBS shift up to 1 week before the shift.  After that, the shift remains the family's responsibility and YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR FINDING A REPLACEMENT.  You may hire a Student Worker if needed.  Please notify the Volunteer Program Director with the name and phone # of the new shift worker.

No-Show Policy

If a family has signed up for a volunteer opportunity and does not complete the shift, they will be billed $50 per shift that was missed.

When are completed DIBS items applied to my account?

After DIBS items are completed please allow up to two weeks for the hours to be applied to your account.  If the hours do not show up after this time period please contact the VOLUNTEER PROGRAM DIRECTOR with questions.
