U12A Girls Notch District Victory over Storm

By Tim Lewis 11/29/2012, 7:15pm CST

Defense Weathers the Storm

The ACYHA U12A girls bombed into Parade Arena in Minneapolis Wednesday night for a tilt with the Storm and came away with a convincing 3-1 victory in their first district win. Claudia set the tone on the first shift with an acrobatic spin-and-shoot move in the slot that eluded the Storm goalie for an early 1-0 lead.  Katherine on the assist.  Erin banged in a pass from Leah for the eventual game winner later in the first.  Then Sara blasted a feed from Paige at the blue line for the seeing eyes shot that found it's way through traffic into the back of the Storm net for the 3-0 lead after one.  Maddie and her defense kept the Storm at bay the rest of the game, holding them to one power play goal on a five minute major.

Coach Kendra was pleased with the performance, "The girls showed solid teamwork tonight with good puck movement and defensive support.  The team that does those things best usually wins, and tonight that was us."
